Karate Club

The Al-Ghazali Shotokan Karate club was established in 1999 and has had numerous locations since opening. We have been lucky to have one of the best instructors in the country, Jim Brennan an ex-international competitor part of the infamous KUGB England team that beat Japan in 1990. He is also an 8th Dan a senior rank that many cannot achieve. In January 2018, Al-Ghazali Shotokan karate club joined the JKS England (Japan Karate Shotorenmei) to benefit and develop our club and provide a wider karate forum for our users to access, including the Olympic routes. This organisation is led internationally by one of the most respected karateka, Sensei Masao Kagawa (8th Dan) and follows the same Shotokan karate style as the KUGB.  The JKS is affiliated to the EKF (English Karate Federation) which is the approved karate governing body in the UK for the WKF (World Karate Federation), therefore giving our members access to a wider range of karate competitions and opportunities in the world. Currently, the Club has 7 black belt students and various members from brown to white belt. The Club is regularly involved in various national  and international competitions.

Sensei Hisham Saif, 3rd Dan, is a 3 x World Champion and 3 x European Champion individually making him one of the most decorated KUGB competitors. Sensei Hisham is the instructor and has sessions 5 times a week.
